International News: Overview of Trump’s Inauguration

The US Presidential election 2016 had a big impact all over the world due to Donald Trump’s winning. In the 2016 election, Donald Trump of the Republican party and Hillary Clinton of the Democratic party mainly fought each other. From main third parties, Gary Johnson (Libertarian party), Jill Stein (Green party), and Darrel Castle (Constitution party) ran for the presidency. It was the second time of presidential candidacy for Clinton and the first time for Trump to run at the political election. First of all, he was a real estate mogul in the United States. He inherited his father’s real estate agent in 1972. As he succeeded in purchasing Commodore Hotel, he built Trump Tower in New York. Trump Tower is now known as the highest ranked apartment for celebrities in the United States. The building is a symbol of his success. His first political participating was 2009 at the age of 69. He joined the Republican party after experiencing insolvency for third time. Finally, in 2015, Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the United States President. As the election started, Trump was soon public all over the world because of his drastic proposals and speeches. He spoke many of drastic words through mass media like Twitter. Especially racial comments became the topic of controversial debates. In December 2015, he called for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until the US representatives could figure out what is going on terrorism. He manifested this proposal on his webpage at first. However, his simple and straightforward words and his flowery career fascinated people, especially poor labors and a group older than 40 years old. His main manifest, “Make America Great Again” stimulated American Dream and made hopes to be risen. 8th of November in 2016, Donald Trump finally was elected as the 45th President of the United States of America. Actually, the number of people who voted for Clinton was larger than for Trump but he won most of the Swing States like Florida, Iowa, Ohio, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.

On the 20th of January in 2017, Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony was held in Washington D.C. He proposed many political changes and pledges during the inauguration ceremony. Here are 6 main proposals he mentioned.

  1. Deducing Corporation Tax

The President Trump proposed to reduce corporation tax in the US from 35% to 15%. He also insisted to abolish an inheritance tax either. In order to eliminate the gap between earning differentials, he considers introducing wealth tax. Those proposals make the working class to stand up for Trump.

  1. Withdrawing the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)

He has the determined attitude against TPP that it only brings Japanese auto manufacturer wealth. Also, he stood firmly against NAFTA and considers imposing high duty on imported goods from China and Mexico. This proposal would protect the industry of the United States. He signed Executive Order about withdrawing from TPP on Monday, January 23rd, 2017.

  1. Strictly for Immigration

This proposal was paid attention to before the presidency election. In fact, he signed an Executive Order which mentions constructing a wall on Thursday, January 26th, 2017. On the Twitter, he mentioned the fact that “Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow (1/26/2017). Among many other things, we will build the wall.” “If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.” Furthermore, he signed a declaration which restricts Muslims to enter the United States.

  1. Progressing “Americanism”

During the inauguration speech, he mentioned four countries which are China, Mexico, Russia, and Japan. He insisted that the United States is going to get back many workers by those countries.

  1. Withdrawing U.S. forces

Donald Trump mentioned that U.S troops stationed in Okinawa, Japan, should be withdrawn. This proposal means that he do not want to allot a lot of money for military outside the United States.

  1. Withdrawing “Obama Care”

Obama Care is a health care insurance program which was introduced by the former President Barack Obama. In contrast, Trump insists that health care insurance should be only for people who want to carry. People who want to not are no need to pay for the insurance. He also signed an Executive Order for reviewing Obama Care.

As described above, the new president Donald Trump is considering to change many things to make America great again and the politics of the United States is going to be remarked by all over the world.
